This one bedroom apartment provided a counterpoint to our Hanoi Old Town experience in the quieter Westlake area. It is a secure compound with key access to the lifts that take you to your apartment. We were at the end of the 2nd floor in Block D and had a lovely view across Westlake. The apartment is quite spacious with a bedroom, bathroom with a bath and shower over the bath, full lounge room and a combined kitchen and laundry. They supplied laundry detergent and we got all our washing done in the combined washing and drying machine. There is also a drying rack on the balcony. The kitchen has a large fridge with freezer, microwave, oven, etc and sufficient utensils to cook and eat with. There is a TV in both the lounge and the bedroom which has lots of options, including Australian and other English speaking options. Despite it being an apartment daily housekeeping was included, which I hadn't expected, so we'd left kitchen a bit messy our first night and found it cleaned up for us. The included breakfast had a nice range of Asian and European options including some cook-on-the-spot dishes that was an excellent start to both our days and we had dinner there one night as well. There is a small market onsite to buy drinks and food to cook if you wish (usually open to 8pm). At reception they were able to offer money exchange for US dollars though not Australian dollars. We enjoyed the onsite pool complex and used the opportunity to walk around Westlake. There is a gate directly out onto the lake but you must ring for security to let you in and out. The Westlake section near the the hotel is quieter and a pleasant walk and there is an interesting carp feeding experience for families very nearby and a very pleasant pagoda in the opposite direction. We did find that taxis sometimes had difficulty finding the place so we asked the hotel to arrange the taxi to the airport for us and that worked well. The staff were always courteous and helpful.

We arrived really early with a very asleep 3 yr old! It was about 7am and the front of house staff were so lovely, welcoming and helpful. They had our apartment ready so we paid an extra half day to get straight in which for me is more than fair. The 2 bedroom apartment was massive (comparative to others here) and although a little dated, spotlessly clean and as requested exceptionally quiet. The rooms are serviced daily and the ladies that do it are so kind and do a great job. It's little things like taking the time to sit our little girl's teddies up in bed that have a big impact. The Westlake area is a welcome retreat from the (awesome) chaos of the old quarter. And for anywhere between 5-12 AUD one way we loved jetting into the heart of the city for dinner and coffee etc. To sum up: The resort itself, brilliant! The location, quieter and plenty of decent places to eat - check out Milk & Honey, Naco Taco and Maii Bistro! The people - lovely, couldn't do more for you! For families with little ones it's the perfect getaway to dip in and out of the wild times to be had in Hanoi.

Whilst it may not suit everyone, we loved the location. Hanoi city centre felt too congested and the pace too fast. There is always an issue with air quality/pollution. Diamond Westlake has a quieter, relaxed atmosphere - yet a taxi ride is very cheap to the hustle of city life. The facilities were very good. Tennis courts, swimming pools & a pool table were a few things on offer. The breakfast buffet was very good and the options changed on different days. There was a chef to prepare freshly cooked items like bacon, sausages, eggs (fried, scrambled, omelette, etc) as well as oriental dishes. The rooms were like a mini apartment and had all mod cons - a washer/drier, iron & board, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, etc. There was a dining area with a large table. We enjoyed the short walk from the privacy of Diamond Westlake to the main street where there are plenty of convenience shops, food restaurants & bars. The complex catered mainly for younger families with children and older couples. It felt very safe.

Great and quite big apartment in a quiet part of town. Could sleep without earplugs. Restaurants and shops close by, Grab taxis easily available and there even is a shuttle bus to get you to downtown every day. Perfect contrast to busy and chaotic Hanoi. Washing machine even had detergent ready. Moskito nets at the window, what more could you need? Much better than other places I have stayed at in Vietnam that had better reviews, so it looks like they no not fake anything! Be careful of places that are too well rated especially in Hanoi and other big cites.

Diamond Westlake Suites were incredibly comfortable with all the amenities and facilities that you could possibly require. I would highly recommend staying here. We were visiting our daughter who lives close to the Diamond Suites so it was perfect for us and we were only a short taxi drive from the old quarter. Plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Lovely view of the lake . Breakfast had an extensive offering to cater for all tastes. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any requests we had.
